Why wouldn't you bank cord blood?

Curious as to the reasons someone might not want to bank their child's cord blood.

The cost /benefit doesn't make sense. It's something we might not end up ever needing and it's not exactly cheap.

I'd prefer delayed cord clamping. Its free and the baby gets immediate benefits.

We donated instead... we thought the chance of us ever needing it was slim but we wanted to put it out there incase someone could benefit!

I did choose to bank my daughter's cord blood and some cord tissue as well. It's expensive and I can see why people don't want to. There's no guarantee that you'll need it someday, and it isn't cheap for people who need money to serve more immediate expenditures like formula.

I'm not going to leave my child's stem cells laying around for other people to mess with. It's not happening. I realize you can have everything saved for your family's potential use and they aren't supposed to be messed with otherwise, but I don't trust people. Especially in the medically progressive community. I also wouldn't bank or donate on religious grounds.

In the UK NHS any donated is not kept specifically for individuals or their families but anyone who needs it.
