first period after delivery painful?

My son is 13 weeks, I had a manual removal of placenta at delivery and am EBF. Today I've had the worst cramps doubled over in pain, feels as though period is coming but no periods before baby were ever this bad. Any similar stories ?

I didnt have manual extraction of the placenta but they did have to do some weird thing with syringes of water injected into it to help it separate from the wall because it wasnt on its own. Anywho, my first period post baby at 5 weeks was light and nothing to complain about. I then started birth control and holy crap the period after the first month of the bc was horrid. Cramps worse than labor and the period was heavy for days. I gave in after 4 days and started the birth control early because I couldnt deal with the cramps. On an up note I just finished my second period post starting bc and it lasted a full 7 days but no cramps!
