2nd baby baby shower?

Okay here's my question...my son will be 5 in less than a month, and I'm due with my daughter in November. My question is, what are your opinions on a baby shower for the second baby. I've heard "have another full baby shower", "do a baby sprinkle", "have another shower if it's a different gender" and "you only get one with the first baby". Opinions?

My son just turned 5 last week and am due with our second child (a girl) in October! We're about the same lol. I'm having a babyshower. Considering the fact that my son is 5 so i have nothing for baby! But it's not all about the gifts. I believe every child should be celebrated in some form. Whatever form your comfortable with! Have fun celebrating your new addition Mama!

I feel like if your kids are close together you shouldn't really need to have a shower for the purpose of receiving gifts. Sure you can have a get-together to celebrate but don't expect gifts, to me that's tacky.

Baby shower is not just about presents in my opinion. It's a celebration of a baby! If i have 10 kids i will have 10 baby showers! Don't want to attend? Your choice. I am not going to cry! I say go ahead and do what you want. And girls, from my very own experience, there will be always someone judging. Life is too short to be living up to someone's expectations. Enjoy and celebrate!

My daughter is almost 10 months and my mom is having a shower for me regardless of whether it's a boy or girl. It's a time for family and friends to gather together and celebrate new life!

I had one for both! They are 5 years and 5 days apart and both girls...since they were a few years apart I didn't really have anything anyway but I still would've done it regardless. For me it's about celebrating the pregnancy and baby and both were/are special to us.

I think a second shower or sprinkle is acceptable if number two is a different gender than number 1.  But please don't have a third and invite your entire Facebook friends list and then post about how only 10 people came...

I just moved into a new house so I'm doing a house warming and a shower. My ex and his family threw out everything from when my son was a baby so I have literally nothing but my son's crib (cause my mom purchased that)

My daughter is 3, soon to be 4, and I saved most of her things; however, we are having a second shower and this baby is also a girl. My mom is throwing the shower, she's just asking people to bring a box of diapers for a "diaper raffle" and I've created a target registry with a few things. I don't see the big deal in having a shower, especially if someone is throwing it for you. For me, it's more about the celebration and getting together with all the people I love. We're just going to BBQ and hang out.

I'm having a baby shower...lol. It's our second but our first will be 8 years old, so the baby stuff is long gone.
We will be asking for gently used clothing and some equipment though. It's astonishing how much waste is produced by the baby clothing industry.

My in-laws have a lot of kids close and age and no one batted an eye regarding multiple showers. :) I think it's a really fun reason for family to get together and celebrate you and baby. My son is 5 and we are barely having number 2 so I don't see an issue in a baby shower but, that's probably just my perspective from my family etc. :) Oh and my husband is also big on having to make things fair for both kids, so if we did something for one baby we have to do it for another.
