Is it tacky to have a baby shower after your first child?

I have my own opinion on it. Just curious if everyone else has the same thoughts. (Not my own btw)

I never even knew that baby showers were only for first children. Why do people do that is it just because of tradition? I feel like I would want all my children celebrated lol

Nope.  No one is required to attend if they don't want to.  It's celebrating the new baby.  What's wrong with that?

I wouldn't necessarily call it tacky, but in my family and oddly enough most of my friends's families baby showers are only thrown by friends/family. The mother-to-be doesn't throw her own shower and in my family we'd consider it tacky. And multiple showers are really unnecessary to us as well since the point of a shower is to get baby things, but you'd already have baby things from the first child. A little party to celebrate is different, but even then someone else should throw it. 
Basically, in my social circle and family it'd be tacky to throw your own shower and very tacky to throw multiple showers yourself. If you're friends or family throw you one or multiple showers then it's fine, multiple showers might be a little odd, but not tacky since you don't throw them. I personally, would only want one for the first child and even then I won't throw my own and plan on not depending on a shower for baby things at all.

I like the idea of a baby "sprinkle" for a second child. That way everyone can still get together but the expectation for gifts is lower.

I have two kids and was surprised with 3 baby showers. I don't think that makes me tacky.

I had one with my son and I'm going to with my daughter as well. If I was having another boy I wouldn't have because I have enough boy clothes and blue everything but now I'm having a girl and wanna celebrate her

I never had a baby shower with my three boys, but when I found out I was pregnant with our fourth, and that I was having a little girl, some of the ladies at the church threw me one because I didn't have a single thing for a little girl. All I had was stuff for boys. I don't think it's tacky at all. I wish I had had one for all of my boys! Lol! Baby stuff is expensive! And free is always good!

It depends.  I wouldn't have a massive baby shower for any consecutive child,  but I'd have a BBQ or something small maybe.  Even then it's pushing it.  But my family is huge and not very close so another baby in our family is like somebody changing the channel 😂 I think it's tacky when people are asking for gifts for 2nd+ children,  if people want to get you a gift they will but realistically you should already have the essentials.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with celebrating a baby! There isn't a rule book for baby showers. Have fun and be happy!
