Virginity

I grew up with the idea that sex is a shameful thing. I personally dont believe so and have tried to embrace my sexuality but am still very personal about it because i still want it to be with someone i care about. I'm 18. I've been seeing this guy for a while and today we were getting very passionate and i initiated sex and it was actually my first time. I'm very comfortable with him and I love him but I feel slightly different- emotionally. Is that normal? Should i feel bad about losing my virginity before marriage?
