Baby cries at one breast

When breastfeeding my LO on the left side she will start to fuss and cry as soon as I put her in the cradle hold on that side. It only happens when she is very awake. When she is super sleepy she will take the breast no problem. She has right favoring tordicollis. Could that have something to do with it you think? I know my letdown on the left can be pretty heavy too, but she cries even before I lift my shirt. I'm just worried she is in pain or something. Could an ear infection cause it too? Any insight would help!
