do you ever get over your first love?

I was 17 and it was the first boy I'd had anything to do with (strict home) I only knew him for a year but I really loved him. I thought I was over it but I saw someone last nught who looked like him and I've wanted to cry all day. I miss him so much, the playing jerk. I really thought he hung the moon

I definitely am over my first love! I did truly feel I loved him, but it is nothing like the real love I have with my husband. Whenever I have a brief though of my ex, it's to think..."wow, I can't believe I loved him"😝

I never have.. we had been together for years and lost our virginity to each other.. I'm married with 3.5 kids and he's still single. I see him whenever I visit California, which is every 6 months to a year.. We are now, of course just friends, but I will always love him very much..

no not really i mean its a part of how you delt with heart break so no...in my opinion even if you were to marry someone and love them some part of you will remember because it was at one point in time part of you too

Sure, as in you stop being in love. But there seems to something special about your "first" love... I don't mean first BF, I mean actual love. The two can be the same person though. My first love is still a good friend of mine, no matter what we stay in contact and still have love for each other. He's the kind of person I can call in crisis and that we share what's going on in our lives. We have lead very different lives though. He went to grad school and traveled the world, I stayed local graduated college and have a family. We fell in love at 14 and here we are 18 years later. I'm with my man and we have two kids and I'm madly in love with him. He just moved back to the states and seems to have a pretty steady thing going right now, we shall see if he settles down with this one lol. He has a habit of long term relationships and then ending them to go somewhere new. Last time it was China. Lol. But he's still a great guy and we make plans to visit every time he's in the area.

I think of my first love time to time. We dated for 2 years and he was my first. Now I'm happily married to another man who loves me more than anything I could have asked for. When things ended with my first, I thought I'd never recover. Now I can't (and don't really want to ) imagine what my life would be if we had stayed together. I doubt I would be this happy, or loved. Just keep in mind everything does happen for a reason. It might take some time to get over it but you will get over it and that relationship will be just a distance memory.

Untrue in my experience... that was seven years ago and I never even think about the guy. We are actually Facebook friends and he is with some other girl. And I'm with another guy. And we will like each other's posts sometimes, lol. We dated in HS for two years and lost our virginities to each other. I am now 23. I've been through college and a few other boyfriends and I have a real career. Once your life takes off, you won't even think of them anymore.
