Medical Malpractice
Let me start off by saying we are not sue happy people but my husband is 7 shades of pissed.
Friday afternoon I went to my OB/GYNs office to have an IUD implanted. I had never had one before so didn't really know what to expect. It was seriously painful and the doctor had a little trouble putting it in. When the procedure was over all I was told was no sex for 5 days and nothing else. No warnings of side effects or what to look out for. When I left the office I was sore and cramping which I thought was normal. I went about my day and the pain started getting worse. By 8 pm I was in pain and light headed. It got so bad I had to call an ambulance to take me to the hospital. 10 hours and 1 surgery later, come to find out I had internal bleeding. Apparently during the iud procedure the doctor messed up with the tool to open my cervix and punctured a 1 cm hole through the back of my uterus. I had bleed a little over a unit of blood into my abdomen. He barely missed the artery in my uterus thankful. If I hadn't followed my gut and called an ambulance God forbid what could have happened.I am now on strict bed rest and heavy pain medication. My husband is beyond pissed off at my gyno and wants to look into a medical malpractice case against the doctor. What do you guys think? Could it hold up in court?
