Is it true you can't have coffee while breastfeeding?

I sure hope it's ok.   I'm 30 weeks pregnant and have enjoyed my one cup a day in the morning.   I'd hate to give that up but will if I have to.

While pregnant and breastfeeding you can drink caffeine but it is recommended to lower your intake to 200 mg per day

I'm breastfeeding and I drink a couple cups a day. (I did all through my pregnancy too) The recommendation is under 200-300 mg daily. I just try not to drink it past about 5:00 pm so he's not getting caffeine at bedtime. (Supposedly the amount of caffeine that reaches the baby is actually very low but I just like to play it safe)

One cup a day should be fine. I have been doing it. I would suggest only doing the morning cup but def not near bed time. Baby does get the caffeine so you do t want to drink loads of coffee or you will have a wired baby.

I drink coffee like I always have and it doesn't seem to bother my son. Just be careful because you can dehydrate easier which lowers your supply.

It should be fine, but it depends on your baby. I wasn't able to drink it for the first few months after my son was born because he had trouble sleeping on the days that I had it.

Yes you can. I used to drink a cup every morning when nursing my son. I would usually get up and nurse him while drinking it. It doesn't instantly travel into the milk so by the next session it wouldn't be as potent. He slept fine.

I wouldn't have made it without coffee!! I could take oxicoden (sp?) while breast feeding so coffee won't hurt!!
