breast feeding fail?? plz help me mums

my baby is 1 wek old today(he's so amazing)he won't fly latch so from day 2 I just pump and bottle feed him...and then do formula in between...i feel like I'm failing tho..i pump for 20mins and get about 60-90 ML but I feel like that's not enough and I'm so afraid my supply will go away...the Dr said it's a MUST that he great feeds for health reasons...ao I'm extra scared! what was it like for u in the beginning? any help would be awesome. .ty

You are feeding your baby! You are not failing! Get that thought out first :) My LO had feeding issues at birth and I exclusively pumped since day 1. Keep pumping as much as you can and your supply will follow. I did every 3-4 hours for 15 minutes for 6 weeks. Make sure you stay well hydrated as well. It helps a ton. And relax, I know it's stressful but you are doing an awesome job!! Keep it up mama!

It is tough. The first 3 weeks my daughter wouldn't latch without a nipple shield. I was nursing her on the nipple shield and then pumping for 15 minutes after each nursing session. Then, because I was pumping so much, I ended up overproducing and she had a hard time nursing because my flow was too fast. I suggest trying a nipple shield to get your son to latch and nurse. Keep trying to get him to latch before giving him a bottle. If he refuses to latch because he's just so hungry, give him a bottle for a couple minutes, and when you stop to burp him, try to latch him to you instead of giving the bottle back. I also suggest seeing a lactation consultant -- they are awesome and very supportive and helpful, especially in the beginning. My daughter is now almost a year and stjll nursing strong.

Meet with an IBCLC to get baby latched of that's what you want or help with pumping of that's the route you want to go. Either way an IBCLC will be a world of knowledge and support for you.

In the beginning I had such a low supply. It took almost 2 months to get a good supply going. I had to up my calories which sucked because I wanted to lose my baby weight and I've been eating lots of oatmeal.
