Soft Cervix?

I went in to L&D; after cramping all night and day, doctor examined me and ultimately decided I was fine, just think some kind of bug. I'm NOT dilated, BUT my cervix is soft, I'm only 26 weeks, close to 27, is this normal? Anyone else experience this?

Pretty sure it's supposed to be soft. Idk, I haven't been checked down there since my first appointment at almost 8 weeks and I just remember him telling me that my cervix was 'soft and closed' and that was a good thing lol.
