Those who had children with a birth deformity: When did you find out?

Those who had children with a birth deformity: when did you find out? Did your doctor seem to suspect it before he/she told you? Did they be open with you about their suspicions or knowledge?

I am asking because I think my doctor suspects my baby might have a birth deformity. I am 18 weeks and received a sonogram at 13 weeks. My doctor told me then the baby seems perfectly healthy and great, and his sonogram pictures seemed fine as well. However, I have the ability to look at my notes after the appointment and they said "suspected or known birth abnormality" on there. I have a sonogram with the sonogram technician next week for my 20th week check up and I was also supposed to see the doctor that day as well. Apparently she has a funeral and wanted to to reschedule, but her nurse called and told me "Dr. McBride wants you to still get your sonogram that day, but she wants to meet with you the week after". Idk it seems like something might be wrong but she is waiting to tell me until she knows for sure? Do you guys agree? What was your experience like when you were pregnant with a child with a birth deformity?
