Opinions about baby shower??

So no one has offered to throw us a baby shower at all. And we don't really care about the gifts. We just want to throw something to celebrate the baby since it took us 3 years. Is it tacky to throw your own baby shower?? It's a Co-ed shower with only his family since mine are in a didn't state.

We threw our own and I didn't even worry about it looking tacky. Why would anyone care that you guys are throwing a party to celebrate your baby? We sent our own invitations and my number was the rsvp contact. We were not ashamed at all. We had a blast and as far as I know no one thought it was wrong of us to do, not that I would have cared anyway.

just have a cookout to celebrate a new life, I'd make a registery in case people want to bring something but I wouldn't include it in the invitations necessarily

I'm throwing my own with the help of my closest friend. One of my other friends offered to throw it but she isn't ever reliable... I didn't want her to back out last minute like usual...

If the gifts don't really matter try a gender reveal.
Those are actually pretty cool and you get tons of food and basically play the guessing game.
If you guys don't already know the sex.
But throwing your own baby shower is actually normal.
