Have you ever taken a job knowing you weren't going to be there long?

Question

I'm starting a job tomorrow that I'll only have for two months tops. I personally know the manager and he says everything is fine as long as I give the proper resignation. 
However, when I told certain people in my life about this decision, I was met with many rude responses about how it isn't fair to my employer to only be there for a short amount of time  
So, what do you guys think? Is it rude to only temporarily be at a job or is it completely fine?

You don't owe anything to a job except the work they ask you to put in while you're there. It's nice to give proper resignation but even that is not required. Life changes all the time and no one should stay at a job their unhappy with or live in an area they don't want to be in forever because of a job. They come and go. And if you're gonna be making money in the two months your there and doing the work they need then who cares. They're find someone else especially since you're planning on giving proper notice.

It's unfair on the employer. Did you know they actually have to take time out of their schedules to interview you? They lose work during that time. It's costly to have to do it twice in the space of two months. I wouldn't hire anyone who had the intention of ditching after 5 seconds.

You do you, don't let anyone tell you how to do your hustle, as them if they want to pay your bills in the mean time.

Depends on the job. If they're investing 3+ months into training you and you won't be there through training or much past it, then it's super rude. If training is 15 minutes or one shift of shadowing, then I don't see the problem.

I only had my last job for two months, because I decided to leave for uni after that. I let my manager know at the interview at least, that university within that next few months may have been a possibility so, oh well 🤷‍♂️ they just needed staff for the Christmas break so I don't see anything wrong with it

It's one thing if your manager knows during the interview process. But if you're taking a job while secretly knowing you won't be having it for very long then that's wrong to do. It costs companies a lot of money to hire a new employee.

Nope, not rude. It's actually somewhat normal. Even in the professional world, for instance, sales employees often stay at a company for a year or so before moving on. Get what you can out of the role and go. Absolutely nothing wrong with that coming from an HR (Learning & Development specifically) perspective. 
Maybe you can learn from this experience by not telling everyone your business? No one really needs to know.

For many employers high staff turnover is normal, some times that's the nature of that industry and managers and owners have adjusted to the norm and sometimes they don't even invest in it as much.

Well your manager is aware of the situation so I don't think it's rude. If it was a different situation where they didn't then I would say yes.
