Health class?

So I've learned that sooo many people on here have not had sex Ed in school, so I was just wondering how many, if any also didn't learn about nutrition and effects of drugs and stuff.. My mom is a health teacher and I'm pretty sure health was a requirement in high school in our school district.. I live in California.. but like it just terrifies me that so many people don't know general facts about any of these things that are just essentials to know.. idk.. it was just a thought cuz someone made a post about smoking during pregnancy and I see that kind of stuff a lot and it scares me to see how uneducated so many people are..especially about things that impact a ,not just baby's or fetus' health, but everyone's.. like is it not a requirement to learn about that stuff world wide?? I know sex is a touchy subject in certain states, but like what about other aspects of human health??
