My beautiful baby girlππππππππ
August 3rd 2017 my life changed for the better β€οΈ
Malia Juliette has trisomy 21. She's had a few complications but nothing severe. Labor went by fairly quickly and delivery was only 21 minutes πͺπ½ when she came out she didn't cry right away, she had a lot of liquid in her lungs, her cry was quiet and short- when she did cry. I remember looking over as the drs & nurses were confirming her physical traits and confirming her diagnosis and just being so worried that something was really wrong. Not hearing her cry was scary but when I heard her cry I cried. Her daddy was by her side the whole time crying and loving her. They finally let me do skin to skin and I fell in love immediately. I didn't care about her having DS, she looked so beautiful & all I wanted to do was hold her and kiss her. We tried breastfeeding but She wouldn't latch properly and they had to take her to do a few more things so we ended up doing the bottle that day and let my supply come in. That same day, she was transferred to a level 3 hospital NICU. She's been there ever since but making a lot of improvements. We're so proud of her. I'm exclusively pumping and she's only taking that now. We tried to do a latch today and that went so good, we just need to work on keeping the nipple in her mouth and having a good latch. Lactation consultant was so proud of how she knew where the nipple was and was trying, we will try again Wednesday π€ I got the go ahead for more skin to skin (we couldn't do it the first couple days because she had so many wires but most of them are off now so we can π) there's absolutely nothing down about this precious little girl πππ
She weighed 7 lbs 2 oz π
