Never posted, but would love input
I am currently 12 weeks 4 days. At my first appointment (8 weeks 3 days), they noticed a cyst on the umbilical cord where it entered the baby. My doctor scheduled another ultrasound at my 12 week appointment to check the cyst. In my research, I saw that usually a cord cyst in the first trimester disappears, so I really was not too concerned.
Today was the 12 week ultrasound. The cyst is gone from the cord; however, it has turned into more of a mass (with a "cystic" center) and is now located in between the amnion and uterine wall.
The good news is that it is not attached to the baby or the cord, and for that I'm thankful, but I am still curious as to what the heck it is.
My doctor basically said he could send me for further testing, but since they wouldn't do anything about it (because the baby is seemingly healthy, so the mass is not hindering its growth), it would be pointless to do so. I've scoured the internet looking for a similar situation that would calm my nerves, but I have had no luck. Anyone dealt with something similar during this (or a previous) pregnancy?
I will go back for a check up in three weeks and another ultrasound in six weeks. I'll be anxiously waiting to see if it's still there then.
