When someone only dates people with a particular feature or race

What do you think? Is it ok to have a very specific type, or is it fetishising that one feature and completely impersonal - like collecting trophies?

What I mean is, for example, when a guy has a 'thing for blondes' or Ukrainian women, or very petite women, women who are Jewish (when he isn't), ballet dancers etc.

Women who only date very tall men, bald guys, doctors, Latino guys, rich guys, redheads, guys with beards... you get the idea.

Or the other one where all his/her partners seem to share the same or a similar first name. I've got an acquaintance who dated 3 or 4 Nicks, and married a Nick too.

And how would you know it's a pattern? Oh trust me, you realise pretty quickly!

Maybe he's upfront and tells you he 'has a thing for good looking blondes' - once was said to me, intended as a compliment I think (I felt like a collectible 😐); a Chinese friend of mine gets guys telling her directly that they're 'into Asian girls'.

Maybe it's a joke amongst his friends or family.

Or maybe you've come across photos of a few of his exes. And they all look like you!
