Is it wrong to have a baby shower for your second child?

I never got to have a baby shower for my little girl. My boyfriend and I have talked about having another baby in the future. Am I in the wrong for wanting one for the future baby?

I don't think it's wrong even if it's the same sex. I always think of baby showers as celebrating the new baby. Traditionally I think it was supposed to be to get things that parents need, but I think it'd be a mistake to rely on a baby shower for that. I'm not personally having another one bc I'm not much of a party person, but there's nothing wrong with someone having multiple showers if they want.

I don't think it's wrong necessarily. I do have a bad taste in my mouth about it though because friends of ours threw themselves TWO baby showers for their second baby. The one before had a whole list of things they wanted including asking for money towards a newborn/maternity photo session they couldn't afford on their own. The second baby shower was supposed to be after their baby was born to come and meet her and bring a box of diapers. I felt like this was extremely greedy and tacky . If you kept it casual and don't ask for gifts really unless people insist then I think you're ok.

I personally wouldn't because it's not my taste.  I'm old school though.
I've never had any friends who have had it for a second baby either.  
I would probably go to one.
Here's the exception though. You never had one, so technically it's not a second shower.  I'm kind of on the fence.  If someone is offering to throw you one, why not

No just don't ask for as much, or don't ask for anything (of course unless it's a different sex). Let people bring whatever.

No. There's nothing wrong with celebrating your baby. If you just had a baby I would just have one and ask for no presents. Or if it's been a while or like in your case you never had one, why not? At the end of the day you're throwing a party and if anyone doesn't like it they don't have to come.

A friend of mine had a baby 'sprinkle' for her second baby who was a different sex and I thought it was a cute idea. The invitation was worded really cute so it was just to celebrate and get a few things that needed to be replaced:

I did one for my son and doing one for my daughter , even if I was pregnant with another boy I would've done it again . I don't want my kids growing up asking how come you didn't have one for me and celebrate me in a way . I would do it and accept anything anyone wants to give.
