Female Video Game Characters?

For those of you who play games, what do you think about the way female characters are designed? Do you feel like they're overly sexualised? Do you feel like game developers are designing characters to appeal to men AND women? I personally see a lot of scantily clad, unrealistic looking women in some of the games my partner plays. And in fighting games the sounds the women make seem more akin to porno sounds than the actual sounds a woman would make if she were actually exerting energy, being punched etc. (which I'll admit I find extremely irritating to listen to) I have played a few games where this isn't at all the case, and I know there are plenty that depict more accurate representations of women. I'm just wondering what you think about the games that don't. Does it bother you? Do you find it sexist?
