If someone is an asshole to you, do you justify being an asshole back?

To treat others the way I want to be treated, how they behave is irrelevant.
What goes around comes around.
Love thy neighbor as thyself.
What I saw on another post is many saying they can justify their behavior because of another person's behavior.
If someone is an asshole to you, do you justify being an asshole back?
