Tips for saving money to move out 😖😖

I'm really trying to save up money with my bf to move out and get an apartment together. What's the best plan of action for saving money? How much did you save up before you got your own place? We live in Jersey so most places are pretty expensive. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
