In January, I mistakenly had sex the night before my pap smear, thus making my results come back abnormal. (Sex can create tears on the vaginal walls and cause results to come back as if there is a problem)

To be safe, my gyno wanted to perform a colposcopy just in case and the results of that came back completely normal.

My gyno said she'd like to have me back in 6 months to do another pap smear just to make sure I'm normal. I got the follow up reminder a couple weeks ago. Do I really have to go back or is that just for my benefit that they remind me? Will they keep reminding me if I don't go?
