Is it okay to get a Pap smear in early pregnancy?

I went in for my 7 weeks and 2 days appointment and I have to go back in two more weeks and my obgyn said he is going to do a Pap smear I been hearing and seeing a lot of things saying it can cause a miscarriage and I should wait till after I have the baby. What do you guys think? Anyone else have one and everything be okay?

No it does not cause miscarriage or affect the baby at all. I had one done at my first appointment at 7w5d, transvaginal ultrasound as well.

I would think your Obgyn would let you know otherwise if there is a risk in doing a pap while you're pregnant. You can always tell him your concern about a miscarriage, but miscarriages are spontaneous.

I've had ine during the first trimester in both of my pregnancies. Never had any issues.

That's a myth, it will not cause a miscarriage. I got one done at 8 weeks and my baby was fine! You'll be okay 😊

I had one with this pregnancy and all 3 of my other pregnancies..no bleeding, no complications. I think it's fine to do it, and that way u can find out if there's an infection of any sort

I had one I think around 12 weeks and everything went fine after! I did have some bleeding and light cramping two days after but they said it was normal because your cervix is more sensitive and there is more blood flow during pregnancy. I'm 22 weeks now with a healthy baby 💙
