It depends. If you're overweight, some doctors will recommend that you keep the same weight your entire pregnancy so you'll be lighter after you give birth.

I was negative one pound from my preregnancy weight before I delivered. I just cut all of the sweets, and drank only milk and water. I was 40 pounds overweight to begin the pregnancy and told my doctor I wasn't going to gain one pound. he said ten to 15 would be fine but monitored baby as I changed my fifteen the better. baby was 8 pounds and perfectly healthy. My doctor said it was a first in his career. :)

It's not healthy to "lose weight" while pregnant because you are going to be gaining a lot of "weight" that isn't fat. But if you eat better and exercise you could still burn some fat, even though your actual weight # could be going up. As long as you aren't cutting calories that your baby needs. 
It's best to talk to your doctor about your nutrition and activity to make sure you are doing it in a healthy and safe.
