Birthday cake baby 😂

So to start from the time I got pregnant I said I would have my baby aug 16. I was due aug 20th. Despite hoping she would be earlier I just felt it would happen the 16th.

Well on the 15th I was just feeling miserable so we tried EVERYTHING to get labor going. Then as a joke I told my husband I would make her a birthday cake to lure her out. I finished the cake around 10pm and tried to sleep.

I woke up at 5am on the 16th with mild contractions and upper back pain. So I went to the bathroom and when I wiped it had red blood tinged in it. I stood up to get a better look and my water broke all over the floor. Since it is my second baby and I went from 3-9 cm last time in 1 hour without my water breaking we left for the hospital.

I still was having contractions around 10 min apart that weren't painful. I was only 3cm and 80% effaced.

After several hours I had only progressed 1 cm. So around 1 pm they started pitocin. I had an unmedicated birth the first time and had the same plan for this one. Around 4pm the contractions started coming fast and furious. And let me say pitocin contractions are 1,000x worse than natural. Around 6 I asked for gas because it was the worst pain I have ever experienced. I was at an 8 and 100% effaced. The gas helped to slightly numb me at least enough that by 7pm I started to bare down with the gas and was at a 10! The urge to push was unbearable but the doctor was in another delivery they told me if I had to go ahead and push when needed but we were trying to wait. It was excruciating. At 7:30 I put the gas down and by 7:52 I had my beautiful baby girl in my arms.

I still can't believe the difference in pain between natural and pitocin. My body was in complete shock for hours after. But it was all worth it in the end.
