Hijabi Teacher???

Question

Anyone a teacher and wear hijab? Any advice? 
I recently started wearing hijab (January) and I also went back to school this week to finish my degree. I hope to work with young children. However a few days before classes started I had a major breakdown. I started thinking about hijab could affect my career. Of course if it ever came to it I'd rather loose a job then take off the hijab. But....
How do I handle questions? Little kids love to ask questions so how do I answer the questions in a way that won't upset the parents? Do I just say it let's people know I'm Muslim? Go into all the modesty stuff? Talk about how Allah swt ordered for us to wear it? Not even bring religion into the answer and just say cause I want to?.... I googled it looking for advice from others and of course ran across some very anti-Muslim blogs that just confirmed my fears. 
One of my classes require field experience so I'll begin my volunteer hours this coming week. I'm just so overwhelmed with my thoughts
but at the same time I keep telling myself that it's all in my head and no one will even ask anything.

I'm not a teacher but I have a half brother who was only 6 when I converted. When he asked why some ladies wear a scarf on their head we just told him it's because they're Muslim and sometimes Muslim ladies wear that as part of their religion. He didn't ask anymore than that at the time. I know it's a slightly different situation but hopefully it helps a bit. If the children do ask more, I would probably say I wear it to identify myself as Muslim. The other explanations are probably a bit too much for little kids if they have had no exposure to Islam at all, but it depends on their age. 
As for the parents, I really hope that you won't get any trouble but I would say try to have a thick skin anyway because there are always people who will treat you differently for wearing hijab. I don't know what equality law is like where you are but in the UK we are protected against religious discrimination in the workplace, so it might be worth getting to know your rights just in case. It's always better to be prepared and it makes you more confident.

Hello. I am a third grade teacher at a public school in the US. I use to have all of these worries too. You have to know which questions to answer and which to actually brush off. Not everyone you work with is going to like how you dress and you might even get dirty looks from time to time. Just do your job honestly and it'll be okay. I tell my kids about different cultures as we study social studies throughout the years and I tell them its a cultural thing.

Assalam alaykum ukhti, I have a degree as supervisor for schoolchildren ages 2,5 to 12. In Belgium it's not allowed to speak about religion to the children, so when they'd ask me, I'd tell them I love wearing veils like Maria. I tell them I think my hair is so astonishly beautiful that I prefer only showing it to my beloved ones.
So in fact I give all reasons for wearing a hijab exept that Allah commanded it. Children understand all those reasons, and accept it.
