A1C takes an average of your blood sugar over 3 months. If you are high in the first 1-2 months then it is very possible that you were an undiagnosed Type 2 or very borderline.

i had GD at 12 weeks with my first and and currently 7 weeks with my second and have just been diagnosed again.

I have GD now and was diagnosed at 4 weeks! I had it in my previous pregnancy with my son 3 years ago so my chances of getting it now were high. I tested my blood sugar and soon as I found out I was pregnant and my numbers were high. I told my doctor I have gestational diabetes again and I wanted to be tested and sure enough I was right.

I was diagnosed at ten weeks. Guess I will have to wait until after birth to see if it was gd or straight up diabetes (for lack of better term).
