Need positive stories with preterm contractions

If anyone has experienced contractions this early, please tell me I can still carry this baby to term! I'm 31 weeks. They are getting as close as 2-3 min for hours despite IV fluids and medication, though medication occasionally slows them to 4-7 min apart. L&D; sent me home after 6 hours when they got them to slow, but acknowledged this will likely continue until I deliver. My cervix is soft, not effaced, but dilated 1cm...the nurse was pretty confident that with a "good run of contractions," I will quickly dilate and efface. Rest and fluids is NOT helping.
