I had WeightLoss Surgery..... and by no means is it the "easy way out"

Ashley • PCOS, Gastric bypass RNY, 34 yearsold

I've been a big girl my whole life.  I've suffered with PCOS, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, anxiety, pre diabetes, sleep apnea, arthritis, chronic migraines, and pseudotumor cerebri(fluid brain tumor and waking up blind). I was put on disability at age 28. I tried to lose the weight on my own almost my entire life. My vision was getting worse, the migraines got more intense and I was told that I would have to get a shunt put into my brain relieve the pressure in my skull. They told me weight loss could help with the pressure so I still tried on my own to lose the weight. I reluctantly made the decision to look into bariatric surgery. I honestly have to say that this was the best decision that I've ever made, my only regret now is not doing it sooner. I'm off almost all meds, my cycles are regular, off my cpap machine, and seeing myself in a way I never thought I would before. I'm on my way to getting off disability, interviewing for jobs, and moving with so much more energy and purpose. Thank God for this tool, my surgeon, and this blessing!! I'm getting my life back!!
