Doing long distance with a man with Bipolar disorder?

I'm am currently doing long distance with my boyfriend of just less of a year. He suffers from bipolar disorder (officially diagnosed). I was wondering if there is any advice on how to handle/approach his "low" as we call them (depressive stage) while not being there in person?

Just keep reassuring him that you'll always be there for him and that you won't leave no matter how bad it gets

As someone with bipolar disorder, it is never going to be easy for him being that it is long distance but just make sure you talk about it, let him know you're there for him and if he needs anything. Sometimes during the manic lows, we like to be by ourselves anyway, but I'd still reassure him anyhow. :)
