i have 3 kids, been with my boyfriend 4 yrs, we live together, pay bills together, but if i mentioned a ring he turns into a immature little boy. making jokes and giggling, changing the subject. Do i accept the fact we are basically married without the ring and paper. or do i push the issue. by the way my kids call him dad as per his request?

He needs to grow up, quit giggling and step up to the plate. If marriage is that important to you then sit him down and speak honestly. You shouldn't have to let go of your ideals, you deserve more.

I would have a serious conversation with him and find out what his future plans are. If marriage is in the plans for him eventually I would let it go, unless its another 4 years and nothing has happened. If he says marriage is not for him, you need to then figure out if you're okay with that no one can make that decision for you, it depends on how important it is to you. To be honest, this is probably something that should have been discussed on an adult level a long time ago. I wish you luck :)

For me personally, I'd like to have a paper (don't really need a ring), but it's up to you and and depends on what you want to do
