Dog owners, how do you get a depressed doggie to eat?

My in-laws are back home in England for a month and my husband and I are house sitting. Annie has been pretty depressed since Monday, but she hasn't eaten her dinner or even had a sip of water today. She's just laying beside me now sighing 😢 Is there any way I can get her to eat or drink? She knows where her food and water are, but she's not interested. Right now she has a can of wet food on top of her biscuits and walked away from it.

Put very little a bit of gravy or bacon grease on top of the dog's hard dog food. That'll usually get dogs interested in eating when they're upset. Other options: buy canned dog food, cook some chicken or beef to give the dog, etc

Make her feel at ease. Try to play with her, pet her, talk to her, give her some treats, take her out for walks. Add something special to her food and be patient! I used to work at the animal shelter and some dogs were very sad or aggressive, they just need to be shown a little love and patience and they will be back to normal soon enough!
