Is my baby behind?

Question

I'm worried my 4 month old is behind on  almost everything :( hes rolled a couple time belly to back, does basically crunched trying to sit up and has jerky but strong head control when sitting. But he will NOT go up on elbows during tummy time, his feet are never flat standing and he doesnt scoot anywhere on his back??? Does grab at anything but his bottle...He was born at 34 weeks but i never realized he could be behind like this or is it just me?

First of all, your son is so adorable! Second, I don't think he's behind. My what to expect book says most babies begin to roll between 4-5 months, so there's still time, and it says in the same section that babies who don't get much tummy time in reach this milestone later but that it's not cause for concern! My guy has rolled three times total, twice right in a row about a month ago and then once at his 4 month appt out of pure anger lol. I think we all focus on these milestones too much... Your baby will reach them when he's good and ready and you'll feel better after talking to your pediatrician I'm sure. 🙂

I wouldn't be concerned. He was born at 34 weeks, so when you adjust his age, he is really a month and a half younger than his actual age. Preemie babies take a little longer. He's a beautiful baby.

He's so adorable! I'd wait it out and see how he improves, all babies develop at their own speed, he seems pretty normal from what you described, but I'd really talk to his doctor if you're concerned.

Are you considering him 4 months from the day he was born? Because with premies, they are often dated for their due date, which means he's at 3 months. My daughter was 3 weeks early, and I always struggled with the dates and stuff. Don't fret, babies do everything on their own time!

You should be holding him loosely to the standards based on his due date, not the date he was born. That's the rule for babies born early.

Your baby is 6 weeks premature. Give him some time! By the time he's 5 months and a half, it's as if he was 4 months. 
You always have to take into account his adjusted age, specially for developmental and physical milestones.

Give it time! My son is lazy. He does thing when he's ready. I was always so worried that he was behind and then BAM all at once. Did you speak to your doctor?

I feel the same way!!! My baby is 18 weeks, and won't roll over, won't reach for things and won't use elbows to raise his head during tummy time ( he lasts less than 5 min ) 😩😩😩😩

Has your Dr showed concern or said to adjust his milestones due to being early? If docs not concerned I'd try to relax and just enjoy your sweet little guy
