Baby's size linked to mother's weight?

Some say that baby's size is linked to mother's weight gain, others say that baby's size is linked to mother's pre-pregnancy weight. Any of this true?

No, not true at all. I didn't gain much weight and had a 10 lb baby. Big babies are common on my maternal side.

Nope, totally a myth. I lost 20lbs in my first trimester, barely gained it back by the end of my pregnancy (so I ended my pregnancy lighter than I started) and my little boy was 8lbs 5oz.

Usually you can guesstimate based on the mother's general size. Usually an small person won't have a huge baby, and a larger person will usually not have teeny tiny babies

i gained 56 pounds with my son he was 6lbs 15 oz i gained 22 with my daughter she was 7 lbs 3.1 oz i dnt think its how much mom gains at all
