What to expect from newborn/child with Down Syndrome?

This our little Melanie ♥️

She's two weeks old today.

She was the best surprise we've ever received!

We didn't know she had down syndrome, even after doing the genetic test in pregnancy, she didn't come out with any high percentage of it happening. We found out the day she was born and I saw her little face ❤️

Even though my mommy instincts will come naturally and they have been...I recognize things will be a little different than raising a baby without down syndrome. Things have already been different, such as her low muscle tone, her oxygen going up and down in her sleep, and her struggle to finish two ounces of formula and honestly it's been a roller coaster these two weeks (in the hospital). But through it all, I've enjoyed every second of being her mommy and I love her more and more each day.

But yes, there's so much I can say.... but I'm just here to get advice from other mommys with newborns or children with down syndrome.

What should I expect?

Such as behavior and health and just everything.... what should I be prepared for?

And big question, when she's older, do we tell her she has down syndrome or will she even care at all? It's a lot of questions!

I just want to be the best mommy I could be...

And also my husband wants to know so we can raise her the best we can.
