Ectopic pregnancy symptoms?

Ladies who have experienced an ectopic pregnancy, did your cramping on one side come and go in the beginning, or was it pretty consistent? The last 2 or 3 days I have cramping that isn't too painful and it comes and goes, I wouldn't think anything of it except it's only on one side and I haven't had a scan yet (I'm 5 weeks) I have a call in to my dr, but wanted to hear some experiences.
