Has your STD ever spread to your baby during birth?

This is a judgement free post. I have genital herpes and a strand of hpv and am scared when I have a baby the baby might get them or one of them. Please tell your story or any knowledge on the topic.

As long as nothing is active when you deliver it should not transfer to baby. (I work with NICU babies). If you have an active lesion then they will need to do a c-section to avoid transfer to the baby because this can easily transfer and can be fatal. The best thing you can do it make sure everyone on your health team is aware and that there is no indication of active lesions before attempting to deliver vaginally. :)

Just make sure your doctor knows, making sure the baby is healthy will be the doctors number 1 prioroty. As well as keeping you healthy. Plenty of women give birth with STDs, even very scary ones like HIV, I'm sure everything will be OK.

My first OB had me on acyclovir at 36 weeks and this one put me on valtrex at 36 weeks to prevent an active outbreak.
