spaying help?

I'm taking my 4 month old kitten to get spayed next week. im wondering what is the best thing to use to keep her from licking the area?? what would you recommend??

With all three of my kitties, they gave them a cone just like they do with dogs. Its just smaller. It worked just fine.

I know I'm going to sound like one of those judgy people that gives unwarranted advice but please consider waiting until at least 6 months. Even at 6 months their little bodies aren't fully matured yet. Spaying and neutering early can cause a variety of problems. I only say this bevause I've had problems spaying early. But... a cone will prevent her from reaching the area to lick. The very will probably send her home in one. You may get painkillers for her but probably not antibiotics. They will usually give a high dose antibiotic at the time of surgery. She may come home a little groggy but should perk up pretty quickly. Try to keep her calm. Keeping a kitten calm... it's not easy! Good luck with your fur ball! She's adorable!!!

The vet should tell you exactly what to do. With my female cat, they put a cone on her to wear for a week. With the male cat, they didn't give a cone and said to stop him if I noticed excessive licking, but it wasn't really a problem.
