is it possible to both Breastfeed and bottle feed?

Has anyone had success both breastfeeding and bottle feeding? If so how old was the baby? Did you always do both? Did they end up only preferring one? Comment below!!

Yes! That's what I'm doing. Breast during the day and bottle at night so my SO can feed and I sleep. My son is only 4 weeks and we've been doing this since week 1. I'm lucky he can do both though. I think it just depends on baby.

It depends on the baby. I have cousins who switched between breast and bottle since before the 6 week mark and their babies didn't care. I fought with my son at every feeding to get him to latch for 2 months before I gave up and started pumping exclusively for him. They generally advise breast only before 6 weeks to avoid nipple confusion. There are wide based nipples that are closer to mom's breast shape.

I've been having to do both for my 6 day old and she seems fine transferring from one to the other and back to one. I think she prefers the breast though because she'll feed longer on me than she will a bottle.

I have done both and it's been a huge success. Do we have moments where he rather have a bottle? yes but it's only when he can't sleep. Do I give it to him? No instead I just rock him to sleep. We only had gave him a bottle because the doctor at the hospital wanted to help him gain weight since he had lost a whole lot. Which at first I was really sad about it because I thought I failed. But once I told myself it's for his good then I accepted it. Once we got home I was only doing breast but my fiancé saw how I was running with little sleep and once my milk came in. And I had bought a breast pump. He tried to convince me that it would be a good idea to give him a bottle at night. At first I took it offensive till he explain it's to help me out and so he can help me as well. So finally at 2 weeks old I tried it and boy I felt like a whole new women the next day. Slowly with time we started our routine and now my little man knows once it's time for bed which is around 8 I try to give him breast one last time. Then it's bottle from them on. Which now he's 5 weeks and he finally only waking up once so now I enjoy it more. It helps me out and I love it. Don't get me wrong it takes patience but it's worth it. My son is almost 8 months. We started out with a bottle to supplement from birth. I went back to work when he was almost 3 months and he takes a bottle when I'm gone and he nurses when I'm with him.

Yes, I did 9 years ago with my son. I mainly used wide mouth bottles that favored the breast to help prevent confusion. We did both for about 6 months.
