Did you take a parenting class?

Question

My husband and I are currently finishing up our birthing class and our speaker recommended their newborn parenting class. I kind of want to take it but my husband thinks all that stuff is simple and just comes naturally. So I wanted to see if anyone's taken one and whether it was helpful or not.

We took one. I didn't learn much, but it was nice to know the new things the world health organization was suggestion or saying not to do. Like basically baby powder is pointless and can do more harm than good. And other random things. I wanted t for my husband but he was angry being there the whole time.

My husband and I did.  He did because I wanted to.  But all that stuff doesn't came naturally. We liked the class.  It helped to understand things that we had not even thought about.  Sure it touched on things we did know. If you have been around baby and helped with them than you be fine but if you are like my husband and me we have not been around babies.  Than it was very nice.

A newborn class is super helpful. We practiced aspirating noses (like, when would anyone ever use a bulb syringe in a tiny nose before taking care of a baby?), wrapping a tight swaddle, helpful holds, bathing technique (newborns are slippery, oddly limp yet also moving at the same time), breastfeeding and bottle feeding techniques. It was especially helpful for the dads, because we were all handled dolls and these guys had never even considered the motions of these tasks, much less done it before.

I go to Lifeway I learned about my entire pregnancy and I can still go till my daughter is 2 years after she is born and I can learn how to take care of her

I wish I had taken one. You learn all the things about a newborn that you never did before. 
I ended up looking up so much stuff only to be told "that's normal newborn behaviour"

honestly it can't hurt. yeah, you learn a lot in situ but the more info you're armed with going in, well, it can only help. I think a good thing about it is preparing you for things that would otherwise freak you out. like cluster feeding or active sleeping (new babies sometimes act awake when fast asleep. your instinct as a first time parent is to scoop them up... then you realize YOU woke them up lol). or learning to look at your baby before you freak about a rash or something. is your child ok? yes? then call the ped and don't run to the ER . stuff like that.
