Can you refuse a male gynecologist?

Can I refuse to see a male gynecologist for any physical exam because of my religious beliefs?

you can refuse to see ANY doctor without giving ANY reason.

It doesn't have to be religious reasons. often times all you have to do is say "I'd like to see a female obgyn". Mine asked me before scheduling if I mind my doctor being male or preferred female.

Yes. Doesn't even have to be religious reasons- it's your body and no one can force you to see any doctors. It's why I chose a female only office, made it easier, because I do not want male doctors to see me down there for my own reasons.

I'm actually prefer a male gynecologist. I've had a horrible track record with female gynos, bedside manner, not listening to me about pain etc. So I've requested multiple times to have a male doctor and have been given one. So you can definitely request a female doctor without having to explain yourself. I'm sure they hear that all the time. It's your body you can do whay you want to do! Don't let anyone make you feel like you can't have it your way.

Yes, and I'd look into the staffing at your hospital when you deliver. If there's an on call doctor, I'm not sure you have a choice. It's a good question to ask.

Yes you can. But if it wasn't for religious reasons many times they are gentler because they don't know how it feels. This is just from my experience. Do what makes you feel comfortable and is accepted by your religion.

My friend's husband is an obgyn and she has 6 kids and she has requested a female obgyn every time. She is just more comfortable with a female doctor. Her husband has no issues with it when it happens to her. They both respect and understand everyone's point of view, religious or otherwise. :)

You can refuse any and all medical treatment for any reason at all. Call around to different practices in your area and see if they have female OB's. I personally love mine, he's excellent but my best friend refused to have a male doctor which is totally fine. Do whatever makes you comfortable

YES YES YOU CAN. I personally don't believe a man should be a obgyn it's discussing and so demeaning, especially as a rape survivor its hell to have a man doing something down there.
It doesn't have to be for religious, just tell them if its not a woman you aren't paying them. Period.
