clicking/clucking noise during breastfeeding?
Hi Everyone! so this is a huge issue I've been having for about 3 weeks, my LO is almost 6w old now. I have an issue of my lo clicking at the breast, especially during let down. I have a strong let down and pretty large breasts. I relatch with no change. At first it didn't hurt and it never does hurt during feeding, but after 2 weeks of constant clucking it is now sore and sometimes painful AFTER I feed, never during. Now, I'll let you know what I've ALREADY done to try to fix the issue. I've gone to the lactation consultant twice, got two different answers. the first time I wasn't sore yet so she was making the noise without pain, the consultant said she's just controlling my let down. The second one I went once it was sore and was nervous that we had thrush, but she contributed it to a bad latch. Of course when we were there my lo did pretty well, the clucking wasn't a ton after relatching (although still there)... but when I get home I cannot get her to latch without clucking. I don't believe she has tongue tie, she moves her tongue to the front of the latch. I will be going to her pediatrician this monday, to see if there is tongue tie or any other reason why she might be clucking. I just wanted to see if anyone else had this issue, knew the cause, or might suggest something I haven't done yet? Thanks in advance! update : went to the doctor and was told she doesn't have tongue tie. It was suggested we use a breast shield although I'm not sure how this is going to help besides just protecting my nipple...
