Is there such thing as being too close to your mom?

I tell my mom everything, I'll be 21 soon, so that includes parties, boys, friends, etc. I consider her one of my best friends and I go to her for advice on everything. I was raised to always be honest with my parents and they never judge me. But I don't know if it's weird or if I shouldn't tell her everything?

Defintely nothing wrong with it. My mom passed away when I was 11 and I wish I had that bond. But I tell my dad a lot. Nothing gross that he doesn't need to know though lol

I don't think at your age there is such a thing. You still need her advice and guidance partially. When you get married there is absolutely such a thing as being to close to your parents unless you want to be equally involved with his parents. There will come a time when sharing everything with your mom becomes inappropriate as you build a new life with your spouse. I was extremely close to my mom and now in my pregnancy she is trying to involve herself in my husbands and my intimate moments. Including wanting to be in the delivery room and wanting to stay for two months in my home after the baby is born.

Nothing wrong with it. I personally think it's possible to be too close. My husband was like.. so attached to his mom and it almost ruined our marriage but now that he's separated a bit and doesn't tell her everything, it's all good.

I think it is great what you have! But once you get married, it's best to not tell your mum everything or else it could cause a lot of problems.. it gets more and more difficult to maintain the friendship you have with your parents as you get older - it's harder to maintain the same level of understanding, parents get old and you don't want to worry them, and when there's husband and if you tell all the details, chances are she will start hating your husband... i have a very strong relationship with my dad and he is my role model.. but I realise that I cannot tell him everything and I need to keep a safe distance so  i dont worry him and to maintain harmony
