Small bday party for 1 year old

My daughter will be turning 1 year old, exactly one week from tomorrow. We're just having a small party at my in law's apartment with only immediate family and my husband's two aunts who've always treated him like their own son-- it's going to be on Sunday as her actual birthday is a Monday. I took off Monday to hang out with her!

We've gotten asked by multiple extended family members if we're having a party for her-- I mean we technically are but none of are invited.

My husband's side of the family is huge, we would have to rent a venue if we invited both of our extended families, not to mention we've literally had a family event every weekend so far since the end of August. It's completely thrown off her nap schedule!

Did anyone else have an extremely small birthday party for their baby's first bday? Also, how do we politely tell them that we're having a small get together without getting their feelings hurt.
