Tips on saving for an apartment

So my bf and I of almost 2 years want to love in together asap! He's taking me on vacation in December and I have a strong feeling he's going to propose to me with that being said we need to move in together! At my house we have an apartment upstairs from the main part of the house where my parents would most likely let us live. But SO and I have been looking at places does anyone have tips on how to save and budget our money? I save between $175 and $250 a week(I am paying a car payment and one of my student loans off) and he saves anywhere from $75-200 depending on when he has to pay bills and what not
