when is the best time to make the first OB appointment?

I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow, with my first baby. I have a list of OB doctors, but I haven't made an appointment yet. When is the best time to make my first appointment? Also, will they give me prenatal vitamins?

I'd call sooner than later but they probably won't see you till 8-10 weeks. I was prescribed prenatals but I'm not sure if all insurances cover it

I called my OB as soon as i for the positive home test (about 4 weeks) and they just scheduled me for a few weeks down the road when  I would be far enough along for an ultrasound, which was about 7.5 weeks. my Drs office wont see anyone earlier than that, but the earlier you call, you will definitely get an appt as soon as they will see you. because my a lot was made for 3 weeks later, I bought my own prenatals, but they did give me a prescription at my first visit, which are covered by my insurance until 4 months after baby gets here, but all insurance companies are different, so who knows!

I agree with making the appointment asap. They will give you prenatals if you ask them for a good prescription; my doctor even handed me samples. Some doctors will make you wait until 12 weeks for sonogram and bloodwork for cystic fibrosis can be done after 8 weeks I do believe and genetic disorder testing is typically 12 to 13 weeks according to my doctor

Now, so you can get in and not wait they'll probably see you at 8 weeks. And no you have to buy them. You can get them at Walmart or anywhere really.
