Should I go for it

I have this guy friend and we’re getting really close but Idk if we are flirting or not. I want to ask him out but if he doesn’t feel the same then I will probably ruin our friendship. He tickles me and messes around with me all the time etc but I’m not sure if that could be considered flirting. Should I ask him out? (We are both in highschool)
