my second birth (sorry it's long)

Jerelle

I had my first baby at 36 weeks. she was 5ibs 12.5oz and 19 inches long. I labored for 12 hours, but with the epidural time went by fast, it didn't seem that long at all. she came out perfect and tiny nothing wrong at all. the second baby was quite different. Thursday I had 10 minute contractions all day long they lasted from 20-45 seconds and just felt like mild cramps. I was 38 weeks and ready to be done. the day before the doc said I was at 2 and 90% effaced and said I could go anytime. so here I am the next day with on and off cramps. looking online it said it was preterm labor that could last weeks. so here I am thinking oh great another week! So I go for a ride in the jeep with hubby trying to progress things along. no luck. so we go home and the toddler and I take a nap. the cramps went away for a bit so I got worried. eventually they came back. we sent the kids to bed and I took a shower around 10:30. I go lay down for bed when I get this really painful contraction and at the same time I feel this pop pop, my water broke. five minutes later I am contracting again and puking. so I get the husband who freaks out. calls his. mom twice no answer. so he wakes up my stepdaughter and tells her stay awake until gramma gets there. we head to his mom's. he wakes her up and next thing I know we are flying down to the hospital and my contractions are at a 3 minutes apart. we get there and they are 2 minutes apart. I am dilated to a 5-6. I tell them I want epidural of course no one is on staff. 10 minutes later doc shows up I am 8-9 and he says I am afraid we don't have time for the epidural. l am not doing good at this point I am hurting so bad. they brought in laughing gas that helped some. 5 minutes later I am pushing this baby out. my body is exhausted and I can't push right. the baby's heart drops and I didn't know I was too focused on the pain. doc starts telling at me to push harder before I have dead baby. all suddenly he gets the vacuum out and that hurt so bad. many pushes 3 vacuum auctions and er on stand by, I eventually got her out. she was a sunny side up and that's why I had a hard time.I had lots of stitches, but the 7.1ibs and 20 inches long was worth it. I was in so much shock it was hours before I could calm down. we arrived at 11:45 and she was born at 1:12 September 8th.
