No. Society doesn’t trust cops enough. It would just add to the fire. I don’t see why they should be allowed too. I can’t think of a single reason...

To my knowledge they have to record and do paperwork on every bullet they shoot. Why the hell would they use a personal weapon. How would that be monitored. Why in a society where we only want weapons used if no other options are available would we give the police less regulations?

No. Standard issue is what they train with. I don't see a reason they need to bring other weapons that they might ultimately be less familiar with to the job. For their own protection and that of the public I think they have what they need

No. The firearms they're issued are heavily regulated and monitored. They have to report every single bullet that is shot, whether it hits someone or not. Even if it's as simple as I was taking it out, my finger slipped, and I shot the ground. Especially in cases where someone was shot, it's heavily investigated. Whether you think so or not. How would they regulate and monitor the use of personal weapons? Unless they made everyone register their person weapon in the system and subjected them to the same reports and investigations as standard issue. But it's super easy to skip the registration. Just it's a mess. Stick to standard issue. If you feel you need more than what's been issued, maybe being a cop isn't for you.
